District 6290 Moment
Assistant District Governor, Paul Herreman joined us once again to share more information on what's happening in District 6290.  Here are some of what he had to share:
  • The last day to buy your 50/50 raffle ticket is this Wednesday, February 28.  They cost $20 each and the drawing will be held during the President Elect Training Seminar (PETS).
  • There are some extra funds available on the district level for larger projects.  If any Rotary club in the district is interested in learning more, please contact Paul.
  • Everyone is encouraged to visit the Rotary International website to view the message from incoming 2018-2019 President Barry Rassin.  It is located at the following link http://video.rotary.org/M7F3/2018-19-theme-address-barry-rassin-ri-president-elect-2/

March 24, 2018--Lowell Community Expo
Join the fun and excitement of this annual event by helping spread the word about Rotary.  As "People of Action" we have a great opportunity to let the community know how to join in and get connected.  The sign-up for volunteer shifts will be distributed at the next Rotary meeting.

May 17-19, 2018--District Conference
Join other "people of action" this spring in Holland at the annual District Conference.  There will be parallel conferences for Rotary, Rotaract, Interact, and Rotary Youth Exchange this year.

June 23-27, 2018--Rotary International Convention, Toronto
If you ever wanted to attend a Rotary International Convention, 2018 is the year to do it.  Several members of the Lowell Rotary Club are already registered.  It should be an exciting time to celebrate being people of action.

Presentation Highlights: We've Got the Power!

Tom Russo, a retired Lowell Light and Power powerhouse, is now using his knowledge and expertise to improve the quality of public power providers throughout the United States.  He took time out to visit the group and share more information on the American Public Power Association.  Here are some highlights from his presentation:

  • Tom, along with 17 other people on the Reliable Public Power panel, helps public power providers achieve a higher level of quality.  Panel members serve 2 year terms with the option of serving up to 3 terms.
  • Power providers analyze documentation and best practices in four areas:  reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.  Everyone who submits documentation are able to receive feedback on best practices.
  • Recognition from the RP3 program is difficult to achieve.  There are three different designations: Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
  • Lowell Light and Power has achieved each level with a Diamond designation being awarded in 2015.  Stay tuned for the latest award in spring 2018!
