Presentation Highlights: The Doctor Is In
Dr. Paul Gauthier, DO from Lowell Family Medical Center took some time away from his usual fun fining fellow Rotarians to share more about his practice. Here are the highlights from his presentation:
Gauthier was born in Grand Rapids and has been married 43 years. He has four children and four grandchildren.
Gauthier was invited to attend a Rotary meeting by Wendall Christoff and joined the club in 1980.
Lowell Medical was established in 1980. Currently, there are eight full time doctors. The group eventually signed with CHS (largest in the country at that time). In June of 2015 it became apparent the CHS was not the best for West Michigan patients and in late 2015 the leadership at U of M changed to an organization driven by physicians and the group signed with them. This turned out to be the best thing the group could have done. There is great access to specialist, purchasing, marketing and obtaining private practices. In March of 2017 the practice was sold to Metro U of M and it has been a great relationship.
Gauthier believed heart and mental health care were very under served. This is a national problem.
In July of 2018 Gauthier will begin working part-time with retirement toward the end of the year.
