During four weeks in June, Telluride Rotary held the second-annual Hikeathon to raise funds for Telluride Rotary as well as for other nonprofits. We also aimed to motivate people to hike!
We handed out several prizes. The top prize-getter for Most Miles Hiked and Best Spirit was Rona Seams, who hiked 420 miles (!) during the four weeks of June. She also raised funds for the team Hiking for Hope for Glioblastoma, which won the top Team Fundraising prize of $500 in gift certificates from Stronghouse Brew Pub.
Special thanks to Rotary’s Hikeathon co-organizers Sarah Lavender Smith and Steven Nordstrom. Many thanks to main sponsors Alpine Bank and Jagged Edge Mountain Gear.
The participating nonprofits that raised money include: True North Youth Program, Colorado Displaced Veterans Coalition, EcoAction Partners, Telluride Jewish Community, Telluride Education Foundation, San Miguel Resource Center, Pinhead Institute, Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club, and Friends of the WPL Library.
