From 20th-22nd May brought us our club trip to Venice, prepared by President Werner Flaim exemplary. After a pleasant train ride, the group of our RC reached the railway station "Santa Lucia di Venezia", where it was already expected by the friends of our partner clubs and warmly greeted and then accompanied with the "vaporetto" by the Grand Canal to the respective hotel has been. After Willkommensaperitiv and a delicious (fish) dinner in the traditional "officers' club of the Navy," was attended by the members of the RC Venice, thanks to the support of the excellent club secretary Stefano Chiccon under the exemplary leadership of President Diego Vianello, the partnership between our clubs renewed. On Saturday then followed, under the guidance of friend and experienced boat owner Piero Mariutti, a cruise on the lagoon with a spacious "old timer boat" from Arsenale in Venice an unknown. The weather and the sun came out, in summer temperatures, from its best side. From our friends we learned a lot about the history, traditions but also a lot of updates this unique city. The selected route took us to lunch on Giudecca in a harbor restaurant with stunning views of the lagoon. What we will visit a shipyard ( "squero") in memory where an insight into the development of the unique Venetian gondolas was granted us. A walk through this timeless city, St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, is a joy, and impressively presents the flair and characterizes the core cell of this unique city.
On Sunday we went back home. Lasting impressions of the city and people will thus remain in our memories. Our President and our 'ambassadors' Riccardo De Paola Our thanks for this impressive experience that was accompanied by excellent organization and support.
INTER MEETING with all RC of Trentino / South Tyrol for Solemn handover of "PREMIO ROTARY 2015/2016" in Castle Tyrol
Tyrol Castle has us exceptionally its doors for the celebration of this important award, which opened every two years, to a worthy citizen of the region, is on the joint proposal of Trentino and South Tyrol clubs, imparted. For this year, well organized by the RC Meran, Robert Scherer, was a native of the Vinschgau (Corzes) artists have been chosen. He now lives in Ala, in Malfatti Palace. With attention to detail, he has this painstakingly, restored and opened to the meeting point for artists from North and South.
Scherer, who was present with his family, has been received by the 150 participants, who come from across the region, in fact, with enthusiasm. After the usual greetings on the part of the President of RC Meran Tiziano Rosani, the assistant of the governor Roberto Codroico, the mayor of Dorf Tirol and the vice director of the museum, the friend Giovanni Modena, who organized the event for years and on the history and previous winners recalls, Rudi Gamper has submitted the resume and the career of the artist. His noble words have managed to virtually bring all present the personality Robert Scherer, who had issued for the occasion some of his works in the great hall where the event took place.
Then found the effective conferment of the award this year, consisting of a Vallazza plant and a sum of money in the amount of € 15,000.00, instead. Together by all clubs in the region, this was donated.
Scherer has, thanks also with understandable emotion and pride and tells at the request of Roberto Codroico some anecdotes from his own life and of his conception of art as a universal communication medium.
As usual, the price Charities has donated and, in particular, is the split in equal parts sum three different South Tyrol and Trentino foundations, benefit. Then all the guests can expect a special breakfast in the courtyard. Despite the veiled sky, it meant the weather gods on our side, and the celebrations could go under sunshine to end. In the early afternoon a tour of the castle was on the program. In addition to a permanent exhibition, also finds a special friend's Loner place in a part of the castle, which, even there, a very welcome statement on these works offered. A very pleasant surprise! An impressive and smallest to the last detail, organized day.
A thank you to the organizers and goodbye until the next ceremony of ROTARY AWARD TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE SÜDTIROL! With the usual stroke of the part of the President of RC Meran Tiziano Rosani ended this Inter Meeting.
