Upcoming Projects
Able Bodies at Work
GJ Rotaract is still very much in the beginning stages and we are working to grow our club while engaging with the community. We currently have nine members with five officers. Currey Ventling is our President, Monica Westerling is our Vice President, Elliot Van Meter is our Secretary, Raven Patrick is our Treasurer, and Mikaela Sullivan is our CMU Liaison and in charge of maintaining our relationship with CMU. We recently created our bylaws and had them approved, so we are proud to say we are official now.
Foundation for Cultural Exchange 15th Anniversary
November 2nd
The Foundation for Cultural Exchange brought many of the members of the group together and therefore holds a special place in our hearts. We are volunteering with them as they put on their 15th Anniversary celebration.
Homeward Bound-Feed The Homeless
November 20th
As a club we decided that helping the homeless population in any way we can was going to be one of our focus areas for this quarter. We are volunteering at Homeward bound to help serve the homeless as a club.
Habitat For Humanity Restore

.5 K Beer Run
March 13th
We are organizing a Saint Patrick's Day themed fundraiser in March. We are going to have people run .5K for a beer and fun time. We plan on selling event t-shirts, sponsorship packages, and admission that includes the first beer. Our goal is to get 100-150 people participating in this event. We aspire to make this an annual fundraising event for Rotaract.
THIS QUARTER’S
TOP STORIES
Benefit Concert
September 13th
As Rotaract’s very first event, we put on a benefit concert for the Foundation for Cultural Exchange. Miguel Dakota graciously performed all night long while guests were able to enjoy wine from Restoration Vineyards and Salvadorian food from La Pupuseria food truck. We ended up making $500 that we are shepherding for use with the Foundation for Cultural Exchange. We are hoping to send some members on the annual spay and neuter campaign in El Salvador this coming summer. While this concert was a learning experience for us, we hope to make it an annual occurrence.
Fruita Fall Fest
September 27th-29th
We were grateful to be able to volunteer along with fellow rotarians at this years Fruita Fall Fest. We had a blast serving beer, pouring, and checking ID’s.
Community Food Bank Food Drive
October 5th
We spent a Saturday outside City Market helping with The Community Food Bank’s Fall Food Drive. We were able to help collect over 1,800 pounds of food for the emergency food program.
CMU Campus Recruitment
October 30th
We put on a halloween themed recruitment meet-up at CMU to spread the word about Rotaract and to gain some new members. We ended up talking to 14 potential new members. We had a great time talking to students while eating pizza.
