I hope you are all having an outstanding week. We had our first board meeting of the year this week and I feel that it went very well. We finished 9 minutes early so I think we are off to a good start. Thank you, Dr. Michael Thomas, for giving our program last week and thank you Past President Caryn Adams for facilitating the meeting for us. My wife had a wonderful retirement ceremony and it happily hanging out at home in her sweatpants. The person who officiated her retirement ceremony was Colonel Smith with NORAD NORTHCOM. He will also be our program coming up in a few weeks. I want to thank you all for being patient as we navigate our meetings through this inconvenient pandemic. The board has decided to continue meeting on Zoom throughout the month of August. We will figure out how to proceed with the meetings in September and beyond as we examine how things play out in August.
Governor Polis has issued the mandatory mask order. This was done to reduce the growing number of cases in our state. If the numbers continue to rise, we may find ourselves in another quarantine situation in the next few weeks. Despite how this virus effects our community, we are Rotarians will continue the good work that we do. I encourage you to stay positive and keep those around you positive as we get through all of this together.
This week, we will have my friend Mr. Anthony Perez as our program. You can check out our club website to learn more about him before Friday. Here is his Ted-X presentation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md6monZNfyQ). We will be streaming his Rotary presentation live from my home that day. I know you will like what he has to say.
Big shout out to the Flight team and the Whitney Golf Tournament team for their diligence. When the World changes the plans change but they have kept with it. As a club we need to rally around these two major projects so they can be successful. Requests for volunteers will be sent out and we would love your participation. I appreciate you. If any of you come across any interesting service projects that our club can get involved in, please let our Community Service Director Samantha Chapman know about it. Thank you for all you do and I’ll “see” you on Friday.

Greetings, Rotarians!
It was another fabulous week at Rotary last Friday! We were a small but mighty group. I hope there were a LOT of people live streaming because Dr Thomas' program was incredibly moving!
So we are back to Zoom meetings. I'm not super disappointed because NOW I am back to enjoying everyone's beautiful unmasked faces on the small screen! And that's a great thing to look forward to each Friday! Plus the whole "Pants optional" with Zoom is an added benefit.
I am especially excited about the upcoming Craig & Kyle Whitney Memorial Golf Tournament! Please pass the information (included above in this newsletter!) to any golfers or aspiring golfers that you might know!
This quarantine time hasn't been difficult for me. I've been training for this for over 3 years! (Insert sarcastic tone. I didn't ever think my life would be so sedentary.) But I know that many out there are struggling with the effects of too much time alone. I read something this week that spoke to me. "And like the moon, we must go through phases of emptiness to feel full again." I am seeing this with some of my friends who have been alone for most, if not all, of the past few months. I'd encourage you to reach out to some of those people in your life this week. I know I'll be doing that as well. It's fun to see how a snail mailed handwritten note or an unexpected phone call can change a person's day!
Speaking of helping create change, it's good to be reminded of our vision statement!
