This month is Rotary membership month. With all our upcoming activities, it should be easy to share Rotary with a friend. The Grand Reveal at the Pioneers Museum is a really fun way to introduce your friends to Rotary. Who doesn't want to come see the beautiful butterflies and dragonflies, listen to a wonderful and popular musician, Ryan Flores, and maybe buy a little piece of art from one of our artists? It is a great way to open the door to talking about all the amazing things Rotary is doing locally, district-wide and internationally. You might even be able to sell all your Flight raffle tickets too!
Another amazing opportunity is to invite someone to hear our speaker next week, Thomas Frey. He is a top ranked speaker and has built an extensive following around the world based on his ability to uncover unique insights into the future and describe the enormous opportunities that lie ahead. This is a particularly great meeting to invite the owner of one of your favorite businesses to attend. You will not be disappointed!

Samuel (Sam) Kevan, future District Governor of Rotary District 5470 for 2022-2023, spent his childhood near the small farming community of Hansen, Idaho where he finished high school in 1965. Sam’s subsequent education included a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma, an MD degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and completion of a family practice residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Sam’s medical career spanned 42 years retiring recently in 2019. He practiced family medicine with obstetrics in Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado then gradually transitioned to full time emergency medicine in Colorado. Sam first joined the Lewistown, Montana Rotary Club in 1978 and continued as a Rotarian in the Delta Rotary Club. He was club president in 1998-1999 and has served 9 years as assistant district governor. He is currently his club’s Rotary Youth Exchange Officer. Sam enthusiastically supports The Rotary Foundation and is a member of the Paul Harris Society, Bequest Society, and recently became a Major Donor. He continues to serve in his community as team physician for Delta High School’s football team, volunteer for the homeless shelter, and is active in Delta United Methodist Church. Sam’s hobbies and interests include playing piano and organ for both church and relaxation, singing in several music groups, gardening, growing grapes, making wine, and flying. As a previous marathon runner he now enjoys biking and walking. Sam married his college sweetheart, Lana, in 1968. They have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Lana worked many years as an early childhood, special education teacher. In their retirement Sam and Lana Plan to travel both domestically and internationally.
It is Butterfly Raffle time! This year's raffle butterfly is called Blue Morpho Grande by Al B Johnson. We are asking each member to either buy or sell 10 tickets at $10 each to support our major fundraiser. Caryn and Cody will be distributing the tickets for each club member at our meeting on Friday. I know that they will need help passing out tickets and collecting money over the next few weeks. Consider volunteering to help. You can sign up on the weekly duty roster.
As you may know, our club has been involved with Trampled Rose. The mission behind the Trampled Rose program is to keep girls in school, while providing the girls dignity and love along the way. The girls we help live in rural Ethiopian villages and are in the most need of assistance. Many of them are orphaned or disabled. This is a project led by Becky Kiser and our own Rotary District 5470 International Committee. We have all been invited to a a party to celebrate Trampled Rose.

Special service project for THIS WEEK - Audubon Elementary School has need of all types of hangers and any like new clothing items, especially shoes and jackets. Please bring your items to tomorrow's meeting.
We have 2 projects starting this month and running into Aug; the 3rd annual Backpack Bash from COSILoveYou and the Ukrainian Letter Writing project, called Colorado Cares/ Letters of Love to Ukraine. Below is a quick overview of information on them.

Colorado Cares/ Letters of Love to Ukraine –
Volunteers needed for pick-up and letter sorting, we will be vetting the written materials for anything not approved by the program details outlining inappropriate content, the goal is to send positive messages to women and children refugees during these hard times.
Pick-up/ sorting dates are as follows (Possible to change based on sorting location, will have an official day from him tomorrow or later tonight hopefully): o July 30th or July 31st, 9am – 12pm o Aug 13th or Aug 14th, 9am – 12pm o Aug 27th or Aug 28th, 9am – 12pm

Steve Popovich letter writing campaign to Ukrainian refugee mothers and children overseas is now active and coordinating with Community Service
The Tbilisi Rotarian Club in Republic of Georgia is helping to raise funds for the School of Tomorrow. They have taken in about 30 Ukrainian children and with the costs of additional children with families who are not paying and the issues of COVID, the school is low on funds and materials. The Director of the School is a member of the local Rotary Club there.

The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) has been informed of a case of paralytic polio in an unvaccinated individual in Rockland County, New York, United States.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are coordinating with New York State health authorities on their investigation. Initial sequencing confirmed by CDC indicates that the case is type 2 VDPV.
Any form of poliovirus anywhere is a threat to children everywhere. It is critical that the GPEI Polio Eradication Strategy 2022-2026 is fully resourced and fully implemented everywhere, to ensure a world free of all forms of poliovirus can be achieved.
We are calling on every single Rotary member to take action and be a part of the fight to end polio, helping to raise $50 million per year for polio eradication.

In response to the deepening refugee crisis, The Rotary Foundation Trustees have decided to prioritize contributions made to the Disaster Response Fund until 30 April 2022 to support disaster response grants for districts affected by these events. These expedited disaster response grants can be used to supply water, food, medicine, shelter, and clothing.
Half a million people have fled Ukraine and are in dire need of emergency aid. The United Nations estimates that the number of refugees could grow to as many as 5 million people displaced. Rotary clubs in Europe and around the world have stepped up their relief work, some working on the ground to help displaced families.
