With our Wings of Change Celebration, Auction and Raffle Butterfly Drawing coming up on Saturday October 3rd, I wanted to make sure everyone had the opportunity to receive and return your ticket stubs for the drawing.
This year’s piece is called “Blue Morpho 2” by Al B. Johnson.
It’s time to start gathering stories for the October issue of Voices of Impact.
Please send your articles, photos, upcoming events, club successes and other news you’d like to share with Rotarians across District 5470 by September 20.
For October, we would especially love to hear:
How your club is recognizing World Polio Day
What your club is doing related to Economic & Community Development Month
Service projects, fundraisers and community partnerships
Membership successes and ideas worth sharing
Youth, Foundation and international service stories
Upcoming events and opportunities for Rotarians
Great photos of Rotary in action
Your submission does not need to be a polished article. Send a few paragraphs, bullet points or simply the who, what, when, where, why and how, along with photos, and the Public Image Team can help shape it into a story.
Thank you for helping Voices of Impact reflect the tremendous variety of Rotary happening across District 5470. I look forward to seeing what your clubs have been up to!
Kelly Steele is the chairperson of Rotary Champions, a Rotary organization that recognizes outstanding Pikes Peak area student-athletes who also spend a significant time doing charitable/volunteer/community service work. Every year, Rotary Champions holds a ceremony that recognizes these student-athletes, with the top male and female student athletes receiving a $10,000 scholarship. The Rotary Champions Board consists of two people from each Pikes Peak area rotary club. Currently, our Rotary Champions Board only has one person (Kelly Steele) from our Downtown Rotary Club. Kelly is hoping to recruit another member of our club to the Rotary Champions Board. If you have an interest in helping student-athletes who have significantly helped our community through their volunteer hours - and hearing their inspiring stories. - please contact Kelly Steele - thorsteele@hotmail.com
We gather on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Black Bear Diner, located on Garden of the Gods Road. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow Rotarians, engage in meaningful conversations, and learn about upcoming service projects. Guests are always welcome!
