Rotary Club of Colorado Springs Bulletin Sept. 14 (Sep 14, 2023)

Our major fundraiser of the year is almost here! The annual Flight Gala and Auction is coming up quickly on Saturday, September 23rd. As we are in crunch time, I would like to ask that all Rotarians who are planning to attend in person purchase your tickets by this Saturday, Sept. 16, and be sure to invite those who may be interested (friends, colleagues, and neighbors) to purchase tickets or register to bid at https://flight.givesmart.com. If you have not seen the pieces in person yet be sure to visit the lawn of the Pioneers Museum and COPPeR to see the true beauty of these pieces.

Last meeting we were joined by Geoff Cochran, the Annual Giving Officer for the Rotary Foundation. He gave a great presentation on why we should donate to the Foundation and ways that clubs and individuals can receive recognition through Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) and Paul Harris Fellow. As a reminder, with every dollar you donate to the Foundation you also receive 1 recognition point. These points can ONLY be used to recognize someone who you would like to become a Paul Harris Fellow. Caryn Adams and John Buckley shared that club members may provide matching recognition points to club members who are close to reaching this milestone if they have previously given to the Foundation or start giving now. This week we will be joined by club favorite from last year, Futurist Thomas Frey with a Report from the Future.

We do not have a meeting on Friday, Sept. 22nd as we hope you will be joining us on Sept. 23rd for the Annual Gala.

September Rotary Social: Trainwreck (812 S Sierra Madre Street) Tuesday, Sept. 26th from 5:00-7:00 PM. Invite your friends or coworkers to join us for Food, Drinks, and Games (Cornhole, Bocce Ball, Putting Green, Volleyball, and other yard games as well as indoor fun with Pool Tables and Virtual Golf). On Wednesday, Sept. 13 Immediate Past President Kay Rendleman and President Samantha Chapman presented Colorado Springs School District 11 with the $40,000 donation from Flight 2022 proceeds. Superintendent Gaal and Laurilea McDaniel, Visual and Performing Arts Facilitator will work with D11 teachers to apply for the STEAM grants available to fund their projects.
