Last week's program was very well received about Shield 616 with several members volunteering to help fund the vests that will protect law enforcement officers against rifles and other weapons. I am announcing this since some Rotarians approached me to obtain the way to get in touch with the presenters.
Again, I'd like to designate the meeting on August 11, which will feature our Secretary of State, Wayne Williams, as a date to invite your friends to Rotary. It would be great to have a net increase of five to ten new members this year and maybe this will encourage you to bring someone to our Rotary Club meeting who is a prospective member. Even if he or she is not a prospect, just bringing a friend to our meeting will create awareness of what Rotary is and all the good we do all around the world. I hope you will take me up on this invitation. Thanks to all of you who bring others to Rotary!
Also, on August 11, we will have a short presentation by Annie Nikolaus who was our exchange student in Germany last year and we will introduce Romi from Slovakia, who is our new exchange student visiting our country this upcoming academic year.

Rotarian Ashley Lawrence received the "Spirit of Rotary Award" from Immediate Past-President Dennis Shoemaker for her contributions to the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs and, in particular, Rotary Prime. Ashley brought considerable energy to the organization with multiple service projects for doing good in our community. Congratulations for a job well done!
