If you have prospects who would like to learn about our club and Rotary, in general, please invite them so that they can learn about all the great things we do, our great food and dessert bar, and our meetings every Friday with the best speakers in town! Call Caryn to let her know who will be coming. This is before they commit to Rotary and our club...just to learn about what membership entails. Get some of your terrific guests who have been invited in the past to come!

 

The board of directors approved spending money on shelter boxes for relief from disasters all around the country and the world. Many from our club have been wanting to help and rather than deciding which disaster is in critical need, the board decided to invest in shelter boxes for as many as the Service Fund wishes to donate. The shelter boxes, which can house a family and provide food, cost approximately $1,000 each. The Service Fund will determine how many to purchase. Please give Tom Naughton or Rodney Gullatte any feedback you wish regarding this decision and if you would like to donate specifically to this project.

 

The steering committee of Flight met this week and is entertaining suggestions for our major fundraiser next year and in years to come. Would you like to continue with Flight; would you like to change it somewhat to better provide more money for our service fund and School District 11; would you like to see a different type of fundraiser? Please give me your ideas to pass along to this year's committee. If you have some novel, new, exciting ideas for ways to raise major funding, please let me know! We need to start planning in the next couple of months to start acting on a project by January, 2018.

 

Thanks to Jesse Collette and Andy Vick for our last two programs! Our own members do such a fine job of presenting interesting programs to our members. If you would like to present something to our club, don't be shy - come forward so we can all be proud of you, too! Get with George Reed, our Program Chairman to get on our list of programs to present.

 

World Peace and Understanding Luncheon is February 23, 2018. If you have a remarkable speaker whom we should consider, please let me know of him or her.
