We have formed a committee to move ahead with the planned Permanent Endowment Fund as part of the Service Fund. Ian Glassford is chairman and Scott Feller is co-chairman. We had a meeting this week and discussed many facets of what it will take to get it going. There were eight of us at the initial meeting, with lots of lively discussion about the endowment. If some of you would like to be involved in a specific area, such as publicity, marketing, investment committee, planned giving, gifting, and others, please let Ian or me know...More to come!
After the meeting this past week on the Diamond Awards, Gloria Brooks stepped forward and is willing to chair the Diamond Awards for 2018-2019! We are all pleased and Jack Kinney will be meeting with Gloria to "pass the torch" and inform her of what it will entail. We already have a couple of volunteers to serve on the committee and need a few more. We need about eight committee members so please make yourselves known if you would like to help and select outstanding teachers from District 11 next year!
The Butterfly Flight leaders are formulating plans for this year's event. It will be held on September 7th at the Antlers, taking the place of our regular meeting that Friday but the event will be from around 4:00 or 5:00 pm to 7:00 or 8:00 for cocktails, dinner, and auction. The plans sound terrific and will be a departure from what we have been doing in the past. We expect up to 400 Rotarians and non-Rotarians to attend. It is going to be called Flight Lite, this year, perhaps. We need Rotarians to help with many areas of planning so again, please step up and help us make this as successful in years past. It is our major fundraiser and I know you will like the changes that will make this event even more fun!
Michaela Smith sent out an email to invite all of us to a planning meeting for Earth Day, 2018. Please attend and support Prime on March 28 at Colorado Craft (the old Ritz on Tejon) - 15 S. Tejon Street, 6:00 pm. It will give you a chance to see this new business, as well.
Tom Nelson is formulating a new way to use the points that our members and our club have towards more Paul Harris Fellows. It may make it possible for every member to be a Paul Harris Fellow - wouldn't that be terrific??
