Homelessness Prevention and Response Coordinator for the City of Colorado Springs
Andrew Phelps is the Homelessness Prevention and Response Coordinator for the City of Colorado Springs. In this role, he evaluates best practices, provides project management assistance to community non-profits, acts as a liaison between community organizations and City leadership, and keeps elected officials informed on issues related to homelessness. Under the leadership of Mayor John Suthers, his goal is that homelessness in Colorado Springs be rare, brief, and non-recurring. Andrew Phelps moved to Colorado Springs in 2012 from Springfield, Missouri. He studied Psychology at Missouri State University and received his Masters of Social Work from Newman University, where he focused on homelessness issues.
We have our first Rotary Prime meeting of 2019 taking place on Thursday, January 10th at 5:30pm.
Please join Juliana and Samantha at Springs Orleans to recap the projects Prime participated in during the 2nd half of 2018 and to discuss what we would like to do for 2019. We are always looking for fresh ideas and suggestions so if there is an idea you have that you would like to discuss please send it over to Sam at samanthac@sentinelsoffreedom.org and it can be added to the agenda for the evening.
And with the new year comes our opportunity to serve as lay judges for the Southern Colorado mock trial. Along with the El Paso Bar we have been major sponsors of this event for many years.
