I hope everyone had a spook-tacular Halloween! We now are heading into November and December, with lots of opportunities to volunteer and help in the community. Please keep an eye out on upcoming emails on the specifics of helping with Cougars Cares, Bell ringing for Salvation Army, and Santa Day. These are all such fun ways to get into the holiday spirit and help our community.
This month is Rotary Foundation month. Our District Governor sent out a nice email about the Foundation. Look further down in the bulletin for a snippet of the email. I'll be featuring different parts of the email throughout the month.
Mark your calendars for November 30th! That will be our next Rotary Social. It is a great way to introduce your friends to Rotary in a casual setting. So please come - and bring a friend, co-worker, neighbor! It will be at Uva's Wine Bar in their private room. They offer over 40 wines by the glass and 10 different wine flights so you can try a sampling of different wines. It should be a wonderful time of fellowship!
Our speaker this week is Tatiana Bailey giving her Colorado Economic Forecast. Come hear Tatiana's report that she delivered to the The UCCS Economic Forum. Next week our meeting will be held on Veteran's Day so we have a very fitting speaker, Rotarian Tom Tudor speaking about the Tomb of the Unknowns. For the past 25 years, Tom Tudor has traveled to lecture on Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Tudor served as a sentinel and relief commander at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from February 1969 to Memorial Day of 1970. He is the past President and Board Member of the Society of the Honor Guard – Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Come and bring a friend. Don't forget to RSVP by Monday at 5 pm. If you can't attend but would like to watch the meeting, let our club administrator, Karen Mooty know and we'll try to get you set up as we are no longer Zooming the meeting.
Also, don't forget to fly your flag next Friday! I might even be wearing some red, white and blue.

This month we will be collecting small change at every meeting for the Pennies for Polio campaign. This money will go towards Rotary's efforts to eradicate Polio and to End Polio Now.

She is coordinating all this for our club and as a prior exchange student, she is well equipped to support our incoming and outgoing students.
H2OpenDoors is a project of Rotary clubs worldwide and Global Water First is an impact investment public benefit company that performs the same work on a larger scale. Both are headed up by Jon Kaufman, member and International Director in the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs.
Three water system installation trips are currently featured that enable members and friends to join:
October 23-November 4: Kenya. Two water enterprises will be installed at two Maasai villages, along with eyeglass fittings for 800.
January 5-11: Guatemala. A multi-district project for 3 installs funded through district grants. Two villages and one hospital.
February (TBD): Uganda. A large Global Grant for our second installation in Uganda, this one serving residents of a five square mile slum in Kampala.
Each installation provides over 10,000 people with 2 liters of purified water every single day.
