We are going to be moving into the new schedule which means one Prime meeting a month (second Wednesday) and one social per quarter (dates, times, and locations TBD). The once a month meetings will be the regular Prime format where we will work on current service projects and take care of other business agenda items. Our goal for the socials is threefold: (1) improve Rotary Prime's exposure in our local community in an effort to build and diversify our membership, (2) tie each social to a service opportunity such that each one benefits our community in some way, and (3) enjoy catching up with one another, including our Classic members, in a fun and informal atmosphere. The first social is going to be at Axe and the Oak on February 23rd. More details to come later, but this one will benefit Cougars Care (the organization we do our Thanksgiving project with) in some way. We are excited!
We want to get Classic more involved in projects that we are working on, the socials, and just foster the cohesion between Prime and Classic in general. There are several ways we plan to do this. We welcome all Classic members to attend any Prime meeting and will actually be reaching out at some point to see if anyone would like to do a presentation at Prime. If you would like to do a talk, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Brittany Smaridge or myself. Additionally, Brittany had the idea of creating a Prime update slide for each Friday Classic meeting that will be part of the regular slideshow. That way, Classic will always be updated on what Prime is doing even if a Primer isn't available to make an announcement at every Friday meeting. The content of the slide will also go into the weekly bulletin. Brittany Smaridge also created a Google calendar that has all of the important events (including meetings, socials, service projects, etc) related to Prime. This calendar will eventually be up on the Prime website, so anyone can go and view it and see what we're up to. I will also continue to send out an email blast reminder the day before or the morning of the Prime meetings as well as a reminder about each social.
Prime will be holding a work/life balance panel at a Friday meeting in March. Classic members will be on the panel, and Primers will act as the moderators. There is a possibility that could be a Friday program once a quarter on different topics and with Classics and Primers taking on different roles. More to come on this as well, but I think it could be a great way to foster the relationship between Prime and Classic.
This month's Rotary Prime meeting was held on Wednesday, February 8th.
The area-wide Rotary Peace & Understanding Luncheon will be held on Friday, February 24th, at 12:00 pm at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The speaker will be Dr. Deonna Neal -- "Ethics and the Military". Cost for the luncheon is $20, payable at the door (not included in your quarterly invoice).
