The VFW Post 4051 Poppy Drive is coming up again this Veterans Day and the VFW is looking for volunteers.
The Veterans Day Buddy Poppy Program goes back to Armistice Day 1918 ending World War I and refers to the poem “In Flanders Field.” Today the program reminds us of the service of our military men and women in all America’s conflicts. Donations given fund our post’s Veterans’ Relief Fund. The Veterans’ Relief Fund supports local efforts to assist veterans and the organizations that support them. The Buddy Poppy Program occurs both for Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

Each year Rotary Prime volunteers with Cougar’s Care, a program at Coronado High School providing support to students in need, during their Thanksgiving project where they provide a weeks-worth of food to families of the school. This year we will be volunteering on Nov 16th and 17th and would also like to ask for assistance from Rotary with a Canned Food Drive.
Please bring in non-perishable food/cans to Friday Meetings from October 19th – November 9th. All items collected will be dropped off at Coronado High School on November 16th when they sort and pack the boxes.
If you would like to join us in volunteering you can also meet at Coronado on Nov 16th from 3 – 5 pm to fill the boxes or Nov 17th from 7 am – 11:30 am to load the boxes into families cars.
