From the President:

Thank you to everyone who has RSVP'd and/or invited guests to join us for this week's program with Mayor Yemi. We are anticipating 100 members and guests in attendance for what is sure to be a wonderful program. As you meet with the guests visiting our club be sure to share your "Why Rotary" story and express what 'Service Above Self' means to you. This is a great opportunity for us to share the impact our club has on our community and the world with those who may just be learning about Rotary.

Our club is actively working on recognizing and honoring past notable Rotarians through Heritage Moments thanks to the research being conducted by Kerry Pearson. In connection with the club working on this project, we are seeking any member who has a club directory for any year between 1967 and 2003 to let Kerry Pearson know at kerrypearsonlaw@gmail.com. If you would be willing to be a presenter for these notable members please let me know so we can schedule additional presentations throughout the year.

With the Holiday Season upon us and as you begin to start or complete your holiday shopping don't forget to use iGive for a portion of your donation to go to the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs Service Fund. Read below for more information on iGive.

Please note there is no meeting next week on Nov. 25th. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful and joyous Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

On Dec. 1st  we will be joined by Greg Williams with a presentation on Soft Skills for Superheroes. Please RSVP HERE for you and any guests joining you no later than Monday, Nov. 27th.

Last week it was an honor to be joined by long-time member Bill Sinclair as we recognized his and many other Rotarians' efforts in creating The Freedom Memorial.
Located at Memorial Park, the dedication of The Freedom Memorial took place on
June, 25, 2006.
Elaine Gibbs recited the words written on each boulder and was instrumental in the creation of The Freedom Memorial.

State of the City and 100 Days Report

Blessing ‘Yemi’ Mobolade was sworn in as the 42nd Mayor of Colorado Springs on June 6, 2023. This is his first four-year term as mayor. He is the first Black man and immigrant to be elected mayor of Colorado Springs and one of the youngest.

Mobolade moved from Indiana to Colorado Springs in 2010, where he started a church as part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. After identifying a need in downtown Colorado Springs for cultural gathering places, he became one of the first entrepreneurs to invest in downtown after the Great Recession when he co-founded The Wild Goose Meeting House in 2013.

Seeing a greater need for collaboration within the faith community, Mobolade began working as director of outreach and engagement at First Presbyterian Church, where he would go on to co-found COSILoveYou, a nonprofit that unites more than 100 area churches under the common mission of serving the Colorado Springs community.

In 2017, Mobolade co-founded Good Neighbors Meeting House in the Patty Jewett neighborhood to provide an additional gathering place in the downtown area. He also began to leverage his success as an entrepreneur and business owner and began working as the vice president of business retention and expansion at the Colorado Springs Chamber & Economic Development Corporation. Here he was instrumental in caring for local employers and attracting new companies during a period of record job growth for Colorado Springs.
