DESCRIPTION:Buddy Poppies for Veterans Day 2020 Weekend The VFW 4051 Poppy 
 Distribution to raise funds for the VFW Veteran Relief Fund will take plac
 e on November 8th from 9:00 - 3:00pm at the Big R Store located on 5845 Co
 nstitution Avenue. The Post\, the Auxiliary\, and the Rotary Club will par
 ticipate.  Buddy Poppies will be distributed from a table inside the fro
 nt door on Big R from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There will be a kickoff breakfas
 t at the iHop located at 6005 Constitution Avenue at 8:00 AM. If you can m
 ake the breakfast we would love to see you. IHop will have two tables for 
 five for us. Plan to attend the breakfast and help distribute Buddy Poppi
 es.  Veteran’s Day grew out of Armistice Day on 11 November.  Armistic
 e Day commemorates the end of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day
  of November when the guns on all fronts finally went silent. The Buddy Po
 ppy tradition dates to Armistice Day 1918 and refers to the poem “In Fla
 nders Field.”  Today the Poppy reminds us of the honorable and heroic s
 ervice performed by generations of service men and women in peace and in w
 ar.  Donations given fund our post’s Veterans’ Relief Fund.  The Vet
 erans’ Relief Fund supports local efforts to assist veterans and the org
 anizations that support them.
