Ellen "Elle" Houby is District 5470's latest Global Grant Scholar -- earning a $30,000 scholarship funded by the Rotary Foundation and District 5470.  Elle is sponsored by the North Colorado Springs RC and the Lille Vauban RC in Lille, France where she will study in the Fall.  Elle is a 2015 graduate of Colorado State University and has worked primarily in Africa (Morocco and Uganda) since graduation.  She will attend EDHEC Business School in Lille to study for a Master's of Science in Creative Business and Social Innovation -- her Rotary area of focus is Economic Development.
Quoting Elle from her application,
"My passion in business is intrinsically linked to my drive to be part of economic empowerment in impoverished communities and ensuring materials and products are procured ethically and sustainably. I am inspired and motivated by benefit corporations that center a business or a product around benefiting the communities in which they work and have seen the popularity of mission-driven brands flourishing in recent years, which gives me hope that people will continue to support brands that place empowering people, specifically ruraland/or impoverished people, at the forefront of their model."

Our club's Global Grant Scholar, Emily Hoover has completed her thesis at the University of Cambridge and will be returning to Colorado Springs this week -- look for her at an upcoming meeting.
