Guests:
Peter Wolfe, Cindy Munchauer (Amherst Rotary), Sister Bea Leising, Markeeta Williams

Fines - None today (Finemasters on vacation)

Announcements:
  • Joe thanked all who worked to make our golf tournament fundraiser another success.  Peter Henley reported that our revenue should be very close to last year's $21,800 or exceed it.  The net should also be close to last year's. We had 91 golfers.  A big thanks goes to the Bank of Akron who funded the lunch, a $1,000 sponsorship!  The club certainly appreciates the hard work of co-chairs Joe and Bill.
  • President Paul reported that a new Rotary trifold is available to use in recruiting new members and general information for people or organizations.  It is an excellent piece for our PR efforts.
  • On September 8 our District 7090 Governor Marlee Diehl will be with us.  Marlee will be the program that day and will meet with our Board following the regular meeting.  Let's have a good attendance that morning.  Board meeting is September 7 at the CA starting at 7AM.
Program:
Sister Bea Leising talked about her nearly 3 years in Kenya assisting its people in the village of Tumal.  Sister Leising was originally from Akron and is part of the St. Francis of Newman Community.  Sister, who manages the food distribution program in her village, shared her experiences thus far in this area of Kenya where the resident's basic living needs are barely met.  She discussed how donations can help the people there with necessities such as latrines, food, medical services, schools, etc.

Upcoming Dates:
August 25 - John Gehl on his trip to Spain
September 7 - Board Meeting
September 8 - District 7090 Governor Marlee Diehl
