Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Foundation and The Rotary International Foundation
The Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club has a seperate charitable non-profit foundation, through which it finances it's charitable works and projects. In addition to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, City of Lakes Rotary is able to leverage matching grants and other partnerships to fund significant charitable service projects in our own community and internationally.  Although each City of Lakes Club President may have her or his own annual project and campaign goals, our  on-going goal is to have each Rotarian contribute to both the City of Lakes Rotary Foundation and the Rotary International Foundations each year. In addition to the campaign, other fundraising events and programs may take place throughout the year, allowing all members, their families and friends to contribute to the important work of Rotary both locally and globally. Below are descriptions of our two Foundations:

Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Foundation
To help with its various service projects and to better serve its various communities, the City of Lakes Rotary Club set up the Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Foundation. It is a not-for-profit foundation set up within state and IRS guidelines as a 501(c)(3), and thus receives contributions for which the contributor receives a tax deduction. The foundation is separate from the City if Lakes Rotary Club in that it operates under a separate legal entity with its own trustees, but because the trustees are chosen from the leadership ranks of the City of Lakes Rotary Club, the important link to the club and its service activities is actively maintained.

The Foundation helps the City of Lakes Rotary Club to engage in service activities, and to extend its outreach in many ways which might not be possible otherwise. With the help of the Foundation, the club not only strengthens its own service projects, but also provides awards to non-Rotarian individuals as well as grants to non-profit organizations which are serving our own community in significant ways.  You do not have to be a Rotarian to contribute to the City of Lakes Rotary Foundation or to participate in the Foundation's fund-raising activities.  Funds for local projects are often matched at the District level through the Community Assistance Program Grants.

The Rotary International Foundation

The Rotary International Foundation, headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, along with Rotary International, helps to fund large, worldwide programs that unite Rotarians globally.  The Rotary Foundation (TRF) transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, TRFs tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into their top priority programs, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants come back to local Clubs and inter-club partnerships to empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.
