This week's speaker was Rotary Exchange Student GioGio Pezzotti, who told members about her home and family in a small town in Northern Italy. She shared that while she is an only child, she comes from a close-knit extended family; she also has a dog  and a pet rabbit. She shared that her typical day in Italy is highly structured; she's up at 6 a.m. and on the bus at 7 a.m. to arrive at school 7:30 a.m. Her school day finishes anywhere between 2:30 and 4:30. p.m. She is also into sports; volleyball and gymnastics are a big part of her life, and she also coaches volleyball. Her town is near the mountains, and she enjoys skiing with friends.

 

Giogio says coming to Canada has been a huge change; the school system is completely different, and things here quieter and the people are calmer. She has enjoyed many activities since arriving in August, such as pumpkin picking and going to a Maple Leafs game. She says that the exchange experience is teaching her to be more independent. 

 

Kim Piper thanked the speaker and reminded club members that we can all help Giogio get the most out of her exchange experience, by including her in any special activities we may have planned.
