President Brenda Jeffries opened the meeting with the Land Acknowledgement and POD members assisted with the 4-Way Test, invocation and table order duties.
President Brenda thanked Lori from Jitterbug for the catered dinner.
President Brenda gave Kudos to Karen, Jeff P and Irene for helping out at the Run for Chris and to Rick for donating desserts for the corn roast and to all who helped. Also, to Margot and husband Ron for the new LFL and Steve for installing the post.
Treasurer Norm Read presented the Charitable trust budget from 2023/24 and the draft for 2024/25 which was then approved by the Club Members.
RibFest Co-Chair, Nick Brown presented a motion to have a 2025 RibFest Fundraiser which was then approved by the Club Members.
Community Service Co-chair Diandra Camilleri presented a motion to assist 3 boys in being able to play hockey this year by donating $500 to each family. This $1500 donation was then approved by the Club Members. Diandra asked for input on the Operation Christmas cheer card initiative and whether it should be rebranded as a Holiday initiative to be more inclusive. Sue Collins said that Waterdown had become a more diverse community and we don't want to exclude anyone. If anyone has input, you can email or speak to Diandra or Karen. Co-chair Karen Matthews shared a thank you letter from Chris' dad for the Club's help at Run for Chris. She also announced that a VIP pass is available for Telling Tales for anyone wanting to attend.
President Brenda announced that our Club was awarded a Citation award from RI for achieving many of our goals last year.
President Brenda announced that the Paul Harris night is coming up on September 30th and invited club members to submit nominations to Darryl Kirkland by Sept. 11th.
Margot Rae announced that rides are needed for Agus to attend exchange student activities in Brantford Sept. 14th & 15th and recommended Club Members get their Police Checks.

Gerry Aggus introduced this week's speaker, Saijal Patel of Saij Wealth Consulting Inc. whose presentation was "Financial Literacy Matters". Saijal said that financial wellness includes control over day to day finances, having emergency funds and working towards goals. Many people are stressed and living paycheque to paycheque. She focuses on educating women who are more at risk financially. She talked about her chance meeting with Premiere Doug Ford while shopping for furniture which led to her presentation to then Education Minister, Steven Leece on having a mandatory financial literacy course in high school. This will be in place as a graduation requirement in 2025.
Gerry Aggus thanked Saijal for her presentation and invited her to consider joining our club.

Sue Collins was happy to be with 2 exchange students
Garry Flood was also happy to host Agus in his home and that the fundraiser and car rally in memory of his grandson was a success.
Margot Rae was happy to spend time up north in Sault Ste. Marie and Manitoulin and for the Dundas Artisan Market where she sold some of her art.
Brenda Jefferies was happy to have her first meeting as President completed and also celebrated her daughter's birthday.
Wilf Arndt was happy to attend his granddaughter's wedding in Napanee.
Gerry Aggus was happy to be attending even without a name badge.
Diandra Camilleri celebrated her wedding anniversary and her birthday.
