President Kevin Smoke gave the land acknowledgement and POD leaders assisted with opening exercises.
Cathy Sanders was a youth exchange student with the Rotary Club of Waterdown 50 years ago. She is from Australia and was invited back for a visit by Sue Collins and Garry Flood who she also stayed with for a few days. She is visiting with her husband Muzz Stanley and talked about how great it was to visit the area again and reconnect with host siblings Fran Lloyd and Jonathan Vance. She shared memories of her one year in Waterdown and presented our club with a banner from her club in Australia as well as a peace pole. She recently retired as a General Medical Practitioner.

President Kevin announced that Honorary Rotarian and Past President Jeffrey Duck passed away. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew on the Plains Anglican Church in Burlington on October 17th at 11 am.
Diandra Camilleri asked for club approval for a donation of $2000 to the Flamborough Santa Claus parade - passed. She also circulated a thank-you letter from the support provided for A Run for Chris and a sign-up sheet for members interested in joining the Community Service Committee. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30 pm at the clubhouse - all are welcome to join in person or on zoom.
Amber Kosubovich announced that rides will be needed for Giogio to attend the next youth exchange event in Hamilton October 24th and pick up October 26th. Please watch for email and let Amber know if you can help.
Sue Collins provided an update from Sophie Blain, youth exchange student in Denmark. Sophie recently attended the District Conference. She also attended another exchange student from Canada's birthday party on the mainland. She went by ferry. She also went to Ireland on a school trip.
Sue also presented Giogio with a birthday gift, card and cake and those in attendance sang Happy Birthday.
Giogio talked about what she has been doing. She participated in the Senior Sunrise at WDHS and went to the cottage with her host family.
After the speaker, Treasurer Norm Reed presented the financials for the Charitable Trust as well as the proposed budget. Both were approved.

Happy $ - Birthdays/Anniversaries/Good news
Sue had a great 10 day trip to BC with Garry. She was also happy to spend time with Cathy Sanders and visit Telling Tales and have her mom as a guest.
Nic Freeman recently celebrated his own and his wife's birthdays.
Kevin will be celebrating his birthday soon.
Norm was happy to have all 4 children and grandchildren for early Thanksgiving and that his new knee is pain free.
Karen Matthews was happy that the Food4Kids clothing donations and sale was successful.
Garry was happy to meet Muzz and Cathy and also that his birthday is coming up which he shares with his son.
Muzz was happy to visit the community with his wife.
