ITEMS OF INTEREST
President Amber Kosubovich opened the meeting with the Land Acknowledgement and Sue Collins led the 4-way test. Michelle Lefebvre gave the invocation and Nathalia Wellenreiter welcomed out guests.
President Amber thanked the POD members for organizing this week's meal, and thanked Lori Grundy of the Jitterbug for catering.
Brenda Jefferies made 2 announcements:
Flamborough Connects is seeking board members, specifically, volunteers with experience in finance and/or governance. Contact Brenda if interested.
FlamboroughToday is launching in early February, and is hosting a coffee event at Copper Kettle from 9-11 a.m. on Feb. 6. All welcome.
Michelle Lefebvre announced that Community Service is hosting Skating at the Memorial Park Ice Loop/Mental Health event on Jan. 24 (NB - rescheduled for Jan. 31 due to weather).
Community Service Chair Karen Matthews advised that the board approved $3,255 for a mental health project coordinated by Flamborough Connects to assist caregivers with resources/support. Motion for club approval passed.
Youth Service Chair Darryl Kirkland made 2 announcements
Volunteers needed for the Family Day pancake breakfast in support of Food For Kids (setup, greeters, etc.). A girls baseball team is already signed up to help.
Youth Services is handing out snacks during exam week at WDHS.
Sue Collins reminded club members who took leftovers home to donate (please pay Norm).
Sue also highlighted the success of the relax and chill night at Yogashala (Jan. 19).
Fundraising Chair Margot Rae provided posters to put up around town/at local businesses to promote the Trivia Night fundraiser. She also reminded club members to donate a bottle of wine for the raffle, or provide silent auction items. Teams are also still needed and, next year, we will be looking for a new quizmaster, as Darryl is retiring.
Jeff Kleven urged members to distribute copies of The Neighbourhood Rotarian.
Wendy Hickey highlighted the ongoing Tru Earth fundraiser, and noted a special 4-day promotion that increases the donation to the club to 30% Jan. 28-31. Remember to use the club's unique link when ordering!
