Double issue: This edition features highlights from club meetings on March 11 and 25. Guests this month included Adele Alfano and Mark Simpson of Autism Dog Services, and Dundas Valley Sunrise member Bob Morrow (March 11), District Assistant Governor Kathy Starodub and Kristine Foy of Laureate College (March 25). Prospective member Jeff Partridge joined us for both meetings in March.
ITEMS OF INTEREST
President Amber Kosubovich opened both meetings with the Land Acknowledgement and POD members assisted with the 4-Way Test, invocation and table order duties.
Guest Bob Morrow presented a $1,000 cheque on behalf of the Dundas Valley Sunrise club at the March 11 meeting, in support of the Dos Corrientes project.
President Amber announced the passing of Ann Marcin, wife of DG Scott Marcin, at the March 11 meeting.
Past president Craig Wood reminded members of the District Conference, which takes place April 26-27 in Amherst, NY.
The board continues to fine tune the meal plan; following a survey sent out to members, we will continue with the current format, alternating between Jitterbug and Garcia's Sandwich Shop. The cost is $180 for 6 meals or $35 each for 4 or 5 meals (paid in advance). Members on the meal plan can pay Wilf $5 for a container to take home if there are leftovers.
The club received a Thank You note from Medical Missions International for our donation of $750 last year.
Rick Ludwig announced details of this year's Flamborough Open, which takes place on May 29 at Flamborough Hills. Sponsors are needed, as well as "experience" items for the auction. Fundraising chair Margot Rae obtained club approval for this year's event.
Community Service chair Karen Matthews shared a Thank You note from Linwood Charlton Centre for last year's donation of $1,500.
President Amber noted that the District selected Margot's plan for a Festival of Trees fundraiser as the winner of their New Member Idea contest - we will receive $350 to get it up and running. Congrats, Margot!
This week in RCW history: March 31, 1958 - The Middleport Rotary Club would visit our club in April to receive the "Travelling Ashtray."

Adele Alfano and Mark Simpson of Autism Dog Services spoke at the club's March 11 meeting about their unique program, which pairs autistic clients with specially trained dogs.
At the March 25 meeting, District Assistant Governor Kathy Starodub addressed our members, and guest speaker Krisine Foy told us about Laureate College, a private, non-denominational high school operating at the former Notre Dame Convent on Snake Road.
