Program

President Brenda opened the meeting with the land acknowledgment and POD members assisted with the opening exercises.
After dinner, we sang "Happy Birthday" to our exchange student, Agus and she was presented with a cake and card from the club for her 18th birthday.
Agus was the speaker and did a presentation on her home country, Argentina. She is from Ushuaia which is at the Southern most point of the country, closest to Antarctica. A fun fact, the ball point pen was invented in Argentina. They enjoy a social hot drink called, Mate and Asado which is like a BBQ where people gather together around a fire and cook and eat together. From 1976-1983 there was a military coup and it was a very difficult time for the country. They have their own driving rules and it is said that if you can learn to drive in Argentina, you can drive anywhere. It is a great place for hiking and they are also crazy for their futbol (soccer) team.
