Guests: Rotarians were joined this week for dinner by guests Tony Wellenreiter, Jesica Cole, Victoria Cacciopo, Penny Deathe and Mackenzie Boers. 
Items of Interest
 
  1. President Kevin Smoke opened the meeting with the Land Acknowledgement, Sue Collins led us in the 4-Way Test and the invocation and Paul Durnan welcomed our guests.
  2. Nick Brown and Margot Rae of the Fundraising Committee announced that Trivia Night has been postponed. A new date will be provided when available. The committee is also looking for volunteers to assist with organizing the event.
  3. Jeff Kleven reminded members that Ribfest is just 4 months away - and the steering committee is always grateful for volunteers. 
  4. Community Service co-chair Diandra Camilleri announced the Community Granting Program (formerly "If I Had $1,000") will run March, April and May. the application link is live - members can encourage individuals and community groups to apply. 
 
Program
 
George Tadross introduced this week's speaker, Penny Deathe of Healthy Youth Network. Penny provided the background of the group and how it assists youth and families in the community. Mackenzie Boers also talked about the Heart program, which she oversees. Our club's Youth Service Committee donated $2,500 to sponsor HYN's upcoming Battle of the Bakers fundraiser on April 23 at WDHS.

  • Diandra Camilleri celebrated her husband's 40th birthday and being asked to speak at a Globe and Mail event. She also marked her 2-year Rotary anniversary.
  • DRAW: Diandra won the draw, but picked the 10 of hearts.
