The signature green boxes feature Rotary’s logo and are adapted to fit the emergency before being transported on scant notice. Most boxes include family-size tents, though the contents differ depending on the disaster and climate. Many are packed with solar lights, water storage and purification equipment, thermal blankets, and cooking utensils. Depending on need, the organization may deliver ShelterKits, smaller aid packages that include tools, ropes, and heavy tarpaulins used to provide emergency shelter and repair damaged structures. 

 

We voted to send $1,000 to Shelter Box who is currently on the ground in Turkey and Syria.

 

Thanks to all of you who stood in the cold and collected the $2,800.  $1,500 will go to HOME and the remaining will go to the food programs of the club.

 

We voted to provide a monthly donation of product to the Sunday Food Pantry.  They are in need of: cooking oil, sugar, rice, eggs, children's cereal, diapers, & toothpaste. These needs vary from month to month.

Diane will be scouring the ads for sales and then we will purchase and provide on a monthly basis one item in bulk.  All are welcome to come to the Presbyterian Church on Sundays to help out.

 

Our club has always been an annual Polio Partner and given at least $1,500 to Polio Eradication.  This year we voted to send $2,000 to this cause and Mike will be sending the check.  You are of course invited to personally participate in this fight and donate yourself at Rotary.org.

 

THIS IS THE FLAGSHIP PROJECT OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL AND NO OTHER PROJECT WILL TAKE ITS PLACE UNTIL THIS IS FINISHED.  A PROMISE WAS MADE TO THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD AND WILL BE CARRIED OUT.

 

This food packing project will take place at RVCC on April 15th.  Our Rotoract Students will be involved.  Our club has voted not to be a participant as our local food agencies will not accept this product and have returned it to us. It was brought to our attention that last year it went to the Ukraine. That has not yet been mentioned this year by the project coordinators.

Another good day.  I am consistently amazed at the amount of food stuffs and personal products we are able to provide on Sundays, thanks primarily to the untiring efforts of Aaron and Bill and the persons that work with them to collect these items and bring them to the church. Franklin Food Bank has also been a great source of items.
