The fastest growing segment of the homeless population is families with children, including the "working poor." These are parents who are working but cannot afford shelter and basic needs. Homeless families with children are the target population of our agency.

In any given year, IHN-SC serves more children as clients than adults. The majority of our parents are single women but we serve single men with children and couples as well. Lack of a living wage, no access to affordable housing, unemployment and the effects of abuse and illness are some of the causes that have forced our clients from their homes.
