THIS WEEK - AUGUST 14TH - BACK TO NORMAL - USUAL MEETING AT
STONY BROOK GRILLE -
SEE YOU THEN
Last week's dinner meeting at Il Forno was cozy and pleasant.
Sam gave us the preliminary updates from FFH - still working on a final accounting. Looks like we had a great first year and we are probably going to continue to work with Montgomery to do this program. The decision to start working on corporate sponsors now for the 2025 year was made. The video is too long and needs shorter clips to use effectively for advertising.
Branchburg Central Middle school asked us to be part of their Falcon PRIDE program.
P - Preparedness
R - Responsibility
I - Integrity
D - Diligence
E - Earn and Exhibit Respect of Self, Others and School
This Program runs through the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. There is a winner from each grade every month based on the observations of faculty and staff.
How we fit in is unclear. This is very early in its development. However, we would like a presence at the school.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Last year we provided school supplies to the Superintendent's office to use either with kids or classrooms in need. We decided to repeat this program. Shopping will be done in August - and delivered to the school by onset of classes. Last year we purchased around $1,000 of supplies and with smart shopping got it for around $800.
DISTRICT GRANT
Maria D got the grant proposal in on time and it is for Winter coats, hats, gloves, and hoodies as we did two years ago - the hoodies were not purchased in 2024. We have to wait for the grants to be approved BEFORE shopping as no receipt will be accepted prior to the approval date.
We received our check this week for last year's grant.
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE
Tentatively anticipated for Saturday, November 16. Kip will be asked to set up a date. Cathy offered to work with the manager, Doug offered himself and Kip to move food.
Drive would be for: Somerset Food Bank, Snacks for the Branchburg Students, Bags for the Learning Gate, Bags for the Branchburg Seniors. Again, early in its development.
PAYA Account from Club runner
Finally successful. The Paya account from Club runner is now attached to the Magyar Foundation Checking Account.
The TD account is officially closed for the Foundation.
TAX EXEMPT STATUS
We are still waiting on the email from the State of NJ on our Tax Exempt status as a 501 c3 - the paperwork was submitted in March and they said to anticipate a reply by August. So we are anticipating.
HUNGER RELIEF - NEWS FROM TED
It looks like that next week, we will go over 30,000 served in the 3rd year!
Since April 4th, with the exception of Mother’s Day on a Monday, we have been fairly consistent in the 160 to 140 range.
