PLANNING MEETING
This week's meeting will be more of the same - planning and picking our purposes going forward.

There was good exchange at the last meeting.  We need to iron things out a bit more so that we have a clearer purpose and goal in mind.  However, last week was good.  More people need to come with ideas and thoughts on the topics!

PASTA DINNER
First meeting of the committee was Last Thursday- very productive.
Again - if you can get a business card ad for $100 by the end of this week - that would be great - 21 member = $2,100 before we get out of the gate.
This flyer should be on all of your personal Facebood, instagram, etc etc etc.
I sent you all an electronic copy.
Use this flyer to solicit your ads.
Make copies to put up in places you frequent over the next three weeks.
THIS IS TO BENEFIT OUR FOUNDATION CHARITIES!

Rotary Education
PAUL HARRIS FELLOW –
The Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) was developed to honor our founder Paul Harris and to recognize people who gave $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).  You can purchase a PHF by giving $1,000 to TRF or it can be given to you by someone that gives $1,000 to TRF in your name.
The third way that you can give or receive a PHF is by using “points”.  Points are earned through charitable giving to TRF.  For example, when our club gives $2,000 to Polio Plus, we have 2,000 points or 2 PHF that the club can use to bestow the PHF to someone as either a recognition of hard work and contribution to the club or as a gift.  When a member donates to TRF they get “points”.  For example, the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) earns each member of this club 100 points a year.  The points accumulate so that they can be used to gift a PHF to someone without paying the $1,000, as the money has already been received, or you can assign your points to someone else.  This costs you nothing extra, and it is something that people do – much like combining airline miles for someone as a gift or aide or prize.  Our club tradition had been never to give a PHF to one of our own – as we all expected to work and not receive any gratuity for it.   This has not been the case in recent years. That is not right or wrong – just a statement of what was and now what is.  Every Club has a different way to use the points and there is no guideline from RI on that.  RI actually prefers members give to TRF regularly, gain PHF points and grow TRF and support its good works.
Another way that the club gets “points” is when we sponsor a Global grant.  When the money flows through TRF we get the points to the CLUB.  When listed on our club website it says Global Grant Flow through points.   These are possibly club points depending on how much we put into the grant, they may belong to other Rotary Clubs that participated in the grant, and they are not personal points, and they do not represent any one person in the club.

There were some questions from our members of how to get or receive a PHF and this is just educational and for clarification purposes.

TRF (The Rotary Foundation) is one of the highest rated charities on charity navigator and was just awarded the top designation for humanitarian work – stewardship of the funds.
