THIS WEEK WAS VERY SPECIAL - WE HAD OUR FIRST "CITIZEN OF THE FUTURE" PRESENTATION!!
So, after 27 years we have renamed and brought into the 21st century our student of the month program.
For those of you who don't know, this program started as an essay contest in the English classes of the 8th graders in 1995. The ideas was for the students to research a career and write an essay entitled - "What I want to be when I grow up, and how I am going to get there"
This changed over the years, but the basic is still there. We are incorporating, literacy, vocation, and research. Those who win then have to prepare for public speaking and present in front of a room of strangers. This is all growth and development for the students.
Kathy F. has done an outstanding job of taking this program, working with the school and transforming it to its current form
Cathy Becker wants to be an attorney - she presented an excellent summary, and brought with her a scrapbook of her "life from now to 20 years from now". Excellent job!
HOLIDAY HAPPINESS HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!
Dan and Kip have started the sign up for the weekly "ringing of the bell" for those in need.
We are looking for lots of volunteers and especially for Saturday, the 17th out in front of Shop Rite -
Our goal is to raise about $3,000 to split between HOME of Somerset County, and the Food Programs that we are currently running in the club.
