ROTARY SEPTEMBER THEME

BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY

Rotarians worldwide are committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 to ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning through education-oriented projects that provide technology, teacher training, vocational training teams, student meal programs, and low-cost textbooks to communities. Rotary’s goal is to empower communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

Current Rotary Club of Branchburg Participation in this theme:

1- Eight Service Awards - BCMS

2- Student of the Month Program - having the students research future goals.

3- Eleventh Grade Service Awards - SHS

4- College Scholarships - IHS, SHS, Vo-Tech, RVCC

5- Back-Pack Program through the Food Bank - you can't learn if you are hungry.

6- Sunday - Hunger Relief. Enabling families to send their kids to sleep with a full stomach. The learning is always better with better nutrition.

Past Projects:

Last year we contributed $6,500 to the High School Program to send 10 young women to High School through Rise to Shine in Kenya.

We have supported School Children in Nepal for 30 years.

We have sent a Village to primary and secondary school in Ecuador for the past 15 years, and still continue with that until little Douglas graduates.
