Branchburg -- The Branchburg Rotary Club will be helping more than 5,000 people in Nepal to start a new business or get a low interest loans.
The Rotary District 7510 in collaboration with various local Rotary clubs and the Friends of Nepal- NJ established the “Legacy of Hope – Micro Loan Project” last year to provide destitute mothers with a micro-credit loans. The Branchburg Rotary will coordinate with the Rotary clubs in Nepal to provide more than $91,000 micro credit loans to different villages in Nepal.
Dr. Tulsi Maharjan, Branchburg Rotary President, said that “getting a low interest rate loans are very difficult for poor people in Nepal so we are implementing this micro credit program in Nepal to help those villagers who do not have collaterals to get loans from the bank”.
The Rotary raised funds from various district clubs as part of the donation for the Nepal earthquake relief fund. Additionally, Branchburg Rotary Foundation has provided additional funds for the project as well.

This new program will be implemented in those villages where many earthquake victims are lacking finances to start their business.
The Branchburg Rotary raised more than $14,000 for this project and additional funds are provided by the Rotary Foundation as well as several other Rotary Districts. The funds from the Rotary Districts 7510, 3292 and 5340 will be matched 100 percent from the Rotary World Fund. Maharjan said the Rotary and non-Rotarian cash contribution will also matched with a 50 percent match from the World Fund.
The Branchburg Rotary Club of Branchburg teamed up with an international partner, the Rotary Club of Mahabouddha in Nepal, who will oversee the distribution of funds and maintenance of the Bank balance.
