Governor Ray's visit
Branchburg Rotarians and Rotaractors welcomed District Governor Ray on Wednesday, October 16 at the Stoney Brooke Grille.
He spoke about his top 3 goals and how to make our district visible with many wonderful projects being done by our district clubs.
His top three goals are…
  • Food Insecurity, Opioid Addiction, & Veteran’s Support.
Food Insecurity
End Hunger program will be held at Drew University, College of NJ and Raritan Valley Community College during the month of March.
  • Opioid Addiction
Opioids plague our district, state and country.  Overdoses are down but Narcan use is up. Rotary would like to facilitate a dialog between local communities and experts to help combat this problem.  Doug Cook is heading up this initiative.
  • Veteran Support
Veterans initiatives will spotlight what programs clubs are doing to support our veterans.
Ray's goal is to increase membership.  He would like to see membership grow at about 2% every year.  There are no new clubs…..but Linden and Parrsipany are satellite clubs which are started with 8 members.  Once they grow to 20 members they can be charted or re-chartered. Branchburg Rotary will also start the sattellite club in Monroe.
Rotary would like to incorporate family members into the club …..become more family friendly.
Public Image of Rotary is a major priority.
The End Hunger initiative is a volunteer magnet…over 1,200 non-Rotary volunteers at the Drew event.  The Madison club was able to attract 7 new members….hands on experience sells!
Rotary has a new opportunity for people and professional networking…..
This gives members a chance to do business with each other….Rotary was initially a networking group for business.
The Toastmasters have been retained to do professional development.
Ray would like to encourage collaboration between clubs.
He would also like to increase internal communication…single message every week…..instead of getting bombarded with emails.
Rotary is growing in developing countries and in countries were the need is great.
