Sales Manager Have you ever heard of a sales manager? Well that is the job I would like to do as an adult. I think I will be good at this career based on my skills, interests, values, abilities, aptitudes, and personal traits. A sales manager is somebody who directs the firm's sales program. (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos020.htm) The dream job for me would definitely be a sales manager. My skills, interests, values, abilities, aptitudes, and personal traits are the reason why I feel that this job was made for me. My top five skills are deciding, evaluating, interviewing, supervising, and selling. All of these skills are highly needed in the everyday life of a sales manager. Supervising, interviewing, evaluating, and deciding are all skills that help managers manage their workers. Selling is important, because you need to know how to sell the products if you are teaching others how to sell the products. My interests are in enterprising.

Enterprisers easily express themselves and are good at convincing others to think the same way they do. Most of the time you find people like that in sales or management and a sales manager is both. That is another reason why I would be good at a career in sales management. My top ten values such as high earnings, authority, control, accomplishment, leadership, influence, risk taking, wisdom, time freedom, and cooperation also fit the job description of a sales manager. My strongest aptitude is my verbal skills, which will help because as a sales manager, it is important to communicate well with others. Lastly, my personal traits will help me a lot, because I am a persuader and persuaders are mostly found in sales. Persuaders are mostly found in sales, because they are good at persuading people to buy the products. That is why my skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, and personal traits will help me succeed at being a sales manager. There is a decent amount of education and training that goes into becoming a sales manager. To begin with, you must get good grades in middle school and high school. If you are able to get into a college, you should get a four year business degree in marketing. (Mike Grunwald) After you get that education, you still need years of training. It is not easy to make it all the way up to sales manager.

First you have to work for a company in the sales and marketing section. If you do good work, you can keep getting promoted until eventually you become a sales manager. That is the education and training it takes to become a sales manager. My career plan consists of many different steps. First I would like to do well in middle school and high school. In addition to that, I would like to go to a good college and get a four year business degree in marketing. My first choice of a company would be a sports company such as Adidas or Nike. I would pick these companies, because you are said to do best at your job if you love what you are doing. (Mike Grunwald) Since I love all things sports, like shoes, clothes, balls, and bats, I would enjoy being around them and selling them. That is my career plan on what I would like to do to become a sales manager.

That is why the dream job for me is a sales manager. With all those reasons why I should be a sales manager, it is like this job was made to specifically fit my characteristics. I cannot believe that I did not think of this job until this year when I took Mrs. Salussolia's Consumer Science class. That is why I want to be a sales manager when I am an adult.
