Happy New Year Friends and Fellow Rotarians!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are getting back into the groove of things.

 During our last two Club Zoom Meetings, we heard from Dina Williams—one of our newer Rotarians—who provided us with an awesome vocational, and we held a Club Assembly focused on membership retention and membership growth.  It was great to get to know Dina on a more personal level.  Did you know that Dina is a physical therapist at Ridgeview specializing in orthopedics and joined Rotary through our Influencer Series?  Hmmmm … more to come on that!  Dina is a “Gustie,” has two adult children, loves the outdoors, and plays the piano and guitar.  Dina is also a “puzzler”—she loves to solve things, primarily in her profession, diagnosing patients and solving their respective issues/problems.  One of Dina’s greatest rewards is a happy patient.  Dina learned to make and bake bread during Covid!   Go getter!!!  I’m glad we got to know Dina better.  She is such a valuable asset to our Club.  Introduce yourself to Dina—as well as others in our Club whom you may not know as well!  Thanks Dina for an awesome vocational!

 This past week (Jan 6) we had a great Club Assembly brainstorming session on membership retention and membership growth.  In the near future, we will forward a memo of all of the great ideas generated in each of the respective “breakout rooms.”  Thanks very much for everyone’s participation and, more importantly, great ideas!  Of primary concern is to fill the position of Membership Chair.  It would be great if two people would “step up” and be Co-Chairs.  Please reach out to me if you have any interest.  Thanks in advance for your consideration.

 Next week, our Club will vote on the slate of officers for 2021-2022.  (The Rotary calendar year runs from July 1 to June 30).   As mentioned during our meetings on 12/30/2020 and 1/6/2021, the slate will consist of the following:

·       Tom Furlong as President;

·       Mike Votava as President-Elect; and

·       Jeremy Senn as Treasurer.

 Thanks to the Nominating Committee for finding such great officers and leaders and, more importantly, thanks very much to Tom, Mike and Jeremy.  They all exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”  Thank you!

 Last week, Scott Van Daalen (“SVD”) was our first Rotarian to be inducted into our Club “virtually.”  Scott is Westwood Community Church’s Outreach Pastor.  Welcome SVD!!!  Please introduce yourself and get to know Scott.  He’s a great guy!

 Our Influencer Speaker Series will kick off in March.  The first week, we will conduct our Club Assembly.  Then, for the next four Wednesday’s we will hear from awesome speakers.  The Committee is still finalizing the slate of speakers.  If you have any ideas, please let me know.  This is a great way to introduce our Club to the community and attract members—remember Dina’s story!  Thanks to the Committee and, in particular, John DeSanto, for spearheading this project.
