Prez Notes June 2, 2021
Happy Monday Fellow Rotarians!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are staying cool!

The 4th of July is fast approaching!!!  This past week, we heard from Tom Furlong with an update on all of the activities, planning, and “going-ons” taking place between the City of Chanhassen and our Club for the 4th of July Festivities.  Thanks very much, Tom, for an awesome presentation and update!  As you heard, we need “all hands on deck” to pull this off!!!  Pull what off, you ask?  The 4th of July Parade, Float, Flyover, Taste of Chanhassen, Carnival, Car Show, and Beer Garden!!!  Again, many, many, thanks to Tom Furlong and Connie Schibilla for “running point” on the 4th of July planning, along with those “chairing” various tasks, including, Tim Erhart (Parade), Tim Erhart and Mike Howe (Car Show), Todd Gerhardt (Taste of Chanhassen), Al Norby (Float), Michael Clausen and Bob Verner (Beer Garden), Anne Voas (Flyover), Mike Votava and Susan and Ladd Conrad (Sponsorship Trailer), and Susan and Ladd Conrad for all of their hard work on PR, branding, and graphics!!!  So awesome!!!!  There are also many, many, others behind the scenes as well.  PLEASE, PLEASE consider volunteering and helping out in whatever way you can.  Newer members … this is a great way to get involved and to get to know your fellow Rotarians!!!  Please reach out to Tom Furlong or me and we will get you involved.  Thanks, in advance, for your “Service Above Self.”

On June 2nd, we recognized our STRIVE Student Scholarship recipients via Zoom.  These kids are truly amazing!!!  It was simply awesome to see soooo many family members on the Zoom call supporting these students.  Without a doubt, these kids are special!!!  A special thanks to Susan and Ladd Conrad, along with all of the mentors, for making a difference in the lives of these kids!!!  It was a fabulous night!!!

This past weekend (June 5th) was Nourish Your Neighbor!!!  The Humanity Alliance, together with Open Hands Foundation/Hope House, hosted a BOGO Event—Buy One Meal, Give One Meal.  For every meal purchased, a freshly made nutritious meal was donated directly to someone in our community struggling with food insecurity.  In addition, meal purchases also helped provide safe shelter and support to teens experiencing homelessness.  That is so awesome!  Way to go all that were involved!!!  What a way to help those in need!!!

Attached please find a brochure received from the Burnsville Breakfast Rotary detailing their 27th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 18th.  Registration, ways to donate, and sponsorship details are included.

We are trying to close out the books on our own Club’s fundraising solicitation mailer.  Our Club really does some amazing things—including funding student service scholarships and STRIVE scholarships, and funding and partnering with local charities.  Please strongly consider donating to our Club’s Foundation.  As I’ve mentioned, we’ve all saved approximately $500.00 over the past year by not having the weekly breakfasts added to our monthly dues.  Please consider donating that amount to our Club’s Foundation.  If that amount is too much, please donate what you are able.  Ways to donate have been posted to our Club’s website, along with links and instructions.  You can also donate via Venmo—we have a separate Venmo set up for our Foundation which is different than our Gratitude Dollars Venmo.  Our Foundation’s Venmo is:  @Donate_Chan_Rotary  On behalf of our Club and Foundation, I truly appreciate your consideration and support!!!  Please donate now so we can close out and reconcile our efforts.

Happy Birthday Shout Outs to:
