An update from Team 2056 - OP Robotics out of Orchard Park Secondary School. April 1st, 2022.

After two years of running our team online and missing out on two normal seasons, Team 2056 finally returned to one of the most prestigious and competitive events in the world of FIRST, the Waterloo Regional Competition. With a refreshed team of scouts and a renewed drive team, Team 2056 battled our way through the competition. Ranking fifth overall in qualification matches, and having gotten 26 ranking points, we successfully made it to the playoffs.

In the playoff elimination matches, and partnering in Alliance three, with alliance captain Team 610 – Crescent Coyotes from North York, and Team 4069 – Lo-Ellen Robotics from Sudbury, Team 2056 gave its best effort. Sadly, in a well-fought semi-final match and in what was a very exhilarating competition, our alliance was unfortunately defeated in a tiebreaking match.

Despite the defeat, Team 2056 won the Industrial Design Award, sponsored by General Motors during the online award ceremony.

We are looking forward to our next event at St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School on April 9th and thank the Rotary Club of Hamilton Stoney Creek for their generous support of our team.
