Bob is a recent retiree as a consultant with The Canadian Space Agency where, for 15 years, he was the Project Manager for Tomatosphere, an educational/science project involving tomato seeds sent into space to test their viability as a candidate crop for the trip to Mars. Associated with this venture, Bob also was a consultant with NASA and The Centre for Science in Space (CASIS). His consulting work has been varied, including working with the governments of Chile and Paraguay on the implementation of a pesticide education program, and Flowers Canada where he developed classroom resources to raise awareness about this industry.

He is the author/editor of more than 120 books – virtually all of them with an educational focus - including three Canadian atlases, published by Pearson Education Canada.

Bob received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award for his contributions to science education and the local community in 2012

Bob is a Rotarian in the Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club – currently the co-chair of the District Strategic Plan Committee, a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Benefactor, and Rotary Leadership Training Facilitator.  He was a Group Study Exchange Team leader to Bulgaria in 2008 and co-chaired the District Conference the same year. His project with the Canadian Space Agency was featured in The Rotarian magazine in 2018.

Bob volunteers with a number of organizations including his church in Dundas, Ontario, the Anglican Diocese of Niagara, Ellen Osler Home (a half-way house for just released females who have been incarcerated) and Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton. 

He regularly does presentations to teachers, students and adult groups on a variety of topics.  His adult education projects include being a guest lecturer on cruise ships in the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal and the “Bermuda Triangle”.
