We have lots of activities ongoing. Key ones:
  • Lincoln Wine Fest May 2.  Sign up with Karen or Joann to help if you have not already.
  • Blood Drive May 8
  • Salt Mine Food Sorting May 9
  • ....   See meeting slides
Pete Walker introduced his guest Jennifer Willis from Principal Financial Group in Roseville, possibly interested in membership.  Sharon Johnson won the raffle but no Ace of Spaces drawn!.  Better luck next time.

Nathan Oates was our speaker, introducing his Youth Center Team from Emmaus Community Church and The Axiom.  Emmaus saw a need for a Youth Center in Lincoln and found an excellent model/partner from The Axiom from Oroville. The plan is to start a Youth Center by the end of this summer.  Funding has been found (except they need $5,000 more to qualify for a $20,000 matching grant).  The Oroville Axiom model will be used:
  • Church starts the center, handing it over to Axiom
  • Programs at center include
    • Programs to build character
    • Use of youth strengths to motivate
    • Use a stepped approach for leadership development
    • Micro-financing to teach youths business practices
    • etc.
Carlos Campiz will be the lead counselor and presented his background and vision. We heard from all members of the team, including the leadership from the Oroville youth center.  Member sentiment from the meeting was that we need to support the Lincoln Youth Center efforts.

Remember!!! No noon meeting next week.  We meet at GoatHouse Brewing at 5:30pm. But, we still have Book Buddies at Creekside at 2pm.
