Club Assembly

This was the first meeting for our new Club president Art Deardorff.  

ImageThe meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, and then Clark Osterhout led everyone in a the song ,Grand Old Flag. to commemorate the first meeting after Independence Day.

Art Deardorff introduced Kim Fricke who has joined Rotary on the ground running as the new Club Treasurer, and her new computer arrived yesterday, a tool to help her perform the duties of Club Treasurer.

The next order of business was "Happy Bucks" , always lots of fun, and many members contributing money to Lincoln Rotary.

The Blood Drive is coming up, August 22, and the Cow Chip Bingo on September 13.

New member Jenny Tucker, a family law attorney in Lincoln, received her induction to the Lincoln Rotary by Dan Johnson.

Three members have resigned from Lincoln Rotary: Bill Smith, Dick McDaniels, and Karin Swatzke.

Kudos to Clark Osterhout and Harvey Ulijohn, who put together and pulled off a wonderful kickout party for past Lincoln Rotary Club president Karen Johnson at Turkey Creek.

Kris Wyatt, was recognized by Art as diligently working at the Farmer's Market for the Cow Chip Bingo, advertising the event and selling tickets. Kris reported that we need to sell thousands of tickets - get out there and start selling.

Art reported the Food Drive is coming up July 19 and Rose Ruiz still needs more volunteers. Also, there will be a bin to collect food at our next club meeting.

Dan Johnson reported the Blood Drive will be held August 22 from 2:30 to 6:30 at the Veteran's Hall and the Boy Scout Troop 160 will hold a rally on August 16 and he needs 12 Rotarians to hand out flyers on August 16.

ImageArt reported that if a member contributes $100 to Rotary they get to ring the bell. Two members, Art and Wildbill, rung the bell now having the privilege to pass on any future fines. .

Additionally Art advised members that the new Rotarian President is Gary Hwand, with his main goals being to eradicate Polio and increase membership - all the while "lighting up Rotary." In addition, the District Governor is Fred Teichert and will be at the October 9 meeting of our Club.

The Assistant District Governor is Brent Hastey from the South Yuba Club and will attend our next meeting.
