Rotary Foundation Meeting

Art ran the meeting for President Karen, who is still on vacation. We were pleased to have visitor Rose Ruiz back for the second meeting. We sang Happy Birthday to Paul R. and he made a contribution to the Foundation. Ma Barker reported that it was her 10-year anniversary of being in business in Lincoln.  Thank you Mary Ann for all that you do in keeping the books for our club.

ImageClaire reported that the food drive for the Salt Mine at Safeway collected over 2000 pounds of food. We had a good turnout of members.  Thanks to all who supported this event. There was also a couple who bought a whole cartload of food, delivering it to the Salt mine themselves.  Art asked that someone step up to organize bringing food to one or more of our meetings to supplement what we collected.

Dan reported again that we are having a social at the Lincoln Area Archive Museum Nov. 19.  More to follow from Dan.

Chris Clark was the lucky winner of $15 from our drawing, but he was not so lucky that he could get the Ace of Spades. Kris Wyatt collected Happy Bucks.

Our Business Spotlight Speaker was Wanda Mertens, accompanied by her husband Ed.  They have recently opened a new Farmers Insurance business in Lincoln.  Wanda has been a representative for Healthy Families Plan for years, and recently became certified by Covered California to offer ACA plans.

ImageClark Osterhout was our speaker.  We also rewarded him with his Paul Harris + 2 pin.  And, because of his leadership in putting Nite at the Races together, the club gave him a certificate for 1000 more Paul Harris points. Thank you Clark for your efforts to support the club.

November is Rotary Foundation Month.  Clark provide some excellent videos and made a presentation on the awesome things the Foundation has done for Polio and encouraged us to continue our giving.  He also reported on the International projects we have completed and the ones were are currently involved in/considering. He reviewed the different way that our members can contribute to the Foundation.  He reported that one of our members gave him a large check to the RI Foundation after the meeting. (Thanks to whoever).
