The Crash of Space Craft Cassini

After two decades of orbiting Saturn and it's 62 moons, onSeptember 15, the workhorse Cassini spacecraft is committing scientific suicide.

NASA is calling it "The Grand Finale". On its final orbit, it will plunge into Saturns atmosphere ending it's extraordinary 20 year mission of discovery.

Since April 28, it has been making 22 elliptical weekly orbits around Saturn and, amazingly at its closest point, gone between the planet and its innermost ring. Never has a spacecraft from any country ever flown so close to the gas giant planets.

Our speaker, NASA Solar System Ambassador Tim Pinkney, will give us details, show us pictures and provide the countdown to Cassini's self destructive flight into the planet's atmosphere on September 15 at 3:44 AM.
