Highly regarded peacemaker, Majid Alsayegh, spoke to our club about “Pathway to Peace in Palestine”  at the Doylestown Library, with dessert and coffee - open to all. Majid is a man born in Iraq, of an Iraqi father and American mother. Raised in both places and subjected to prejudices in both places, he has focused his spare time on trying to help disparate groups find common ground to resolve conflict. He has recently returned from the Vatican, after leading discussions between young adults of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths to figure out a pathway to peace for the Middle East. He has served on the Board of Delaware Valley University and is Co-leader of the University of Penn's Office of Religious and Ethnic Inclusion. Our club honored Majid for his good works at a past Four Way Test Breakfast.

His message to our audience focused on the tremendous need for conversation between all parties, in a non-inflammatory way. Peace comes with recognizing each other as people, rather than as stereotypes reinforced by politicians. Once mutual recognition is felt, then dialogue can move towards addressing concerns in a fair and mutually beneficial way. Majid's message was interesting and hopeful, which concluded the evening on a high note. Thank you, Majid!
