Dr. Mazaheri (middle) hosted members of the VIA and other DH friends for our Rotary dinner on March 28th, which featured Jim Brexler, DH President and CEO, as the speaker. Jim both entertained us and informed us with contrasts between our first hospital in 1923 and our present, rapidly expanding one.

Jim told us that Doylestown Hospital is one of the top 100 hospitals in the country, with five star rated heart and  orthopedic programs. Doylestown is a great area to grow older!

The Village Improvement Association (VIA), which owns the hospital, got its start with a building on Oakland Street in 1923. In 1925, the Doylestown Rotary (with J. Carroll Molloy as President) established a fund to expand the hospital - just a year after the club was funded. Two years later, the $2800 fund paid for the stone addition to the building, including a modern obstetrical department, adjoining private hospital room, bathroom and dinette!
