As a young teenager, he and his family were taken from their home and put into horse drawn carts and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. It was there, on the very first day, that his mother and father were killed, Soon after that, he was separated from his brothers and he had to learn to survive on his own. He explained many of the survival skills needed to just make it to the next day. As he grew physically weaker and weaker and could no longer work, he was scheduled to be put to death. Just hours before his life was to end, he was freed by American troops. Decades later, he was reunited with one of his liberators who now lives in Media, PA.

Our salute to you Mr Gross for surviving those most horrible of times and having the bravery to tell us your story.
