Excellent meeting today, welcoming an old friend back into the club, perfect attendance pins, lots of guests and a very fitting topic regarding Vimy Ridge from Bill Finley and one of his students.

5. Introduction of Guests and Visiting Rotarians Ron Kozub:

We had 7 guests this week, starting with our guest speaker Grace Bannerman and her mother were present along with Mr. and Mrs. Findley from the Vimy Foundation. Dave Martineau from Bullet News and Doria from the Niagara Falls Review joined us as prospective members.

7. Sergeant-at-Arms: Jean Holbert Leighton, donations were received from every member in remembrance and thankfulness to those who served and gave their lives for our great country.

8. Announcements:

                   1. Take It To Heart: Thank-you to Cathy on behalf of the club for once again spear heading an excellent Take It To Heart Gala.

                   2.  Bingo- Next bingo is Saturday November 12. Jim Hooper is leading. Debi, Ron and June have volunteered to assist.

                   3.  GSE -update Jim Hooper (if he is there)

                   4.  Rotaract Update: Jean Stewart. Rotaract has been invited to speak at one of our meetings. At the last Rotaract meeting, the documents were prepared to take to the Brock administration.

                   5. November 9 is the Board of Directors meeting 7pm at CSS.

                   6.  Paul Harris Fellowships—November 28 we will be recognizing our nominated Paul Harris Fellows. Please plan to attend this special meeting partners and spouses are welcome.

7. Birthdays (to announce only if they are present):  Those born into Rotary, Tom Schulz 11 years ago,  Jim Howes 21 years ago and Bob McKay 31 years ago. Congratulations is also due to Ed Telenko who was celebrating his birthday,

10. 50/50 Draw: $2/ ticket - Find one of two Jokers, Dan T. won the ticket draw but unfortunately chose a 3 of clubs.

11. Early Leavers: Laetitia DW, Matt T. and Kris Akilie had to leave early and were promptly fined the appropriate amount.

12. Introduction of Guest Speaker:  Our guest speakers were Bill Finlay and Grace Bannerman from the Vimy Foundation. Bill informed us briefly of the purpose of the Vimy foundation and brought Grace up to the podium to take the presentation from there. Grace told us very eloquently about the experiences that she had as one of the few chosen students to go and visit Vimy Ridge, and how this experience as changed her perspective on life and the remembrance that goes on around the world that she never new exsisted. For example in one town there is a meeting every day for the soldier that are unaccounted for.
