INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS AND VISITING ROTARIANS

Ron Kozub introduced Marco Marino, Economic Development Officer for the City of St. Catharines and Elisabeth Zimmerman, Executive Director of the YWCA, both prospective members and guests of Roseanne Morissette; Jack Chatterton, visiting Rotarian from the down town club; and Arie Vrugteveen, prospective member and guest of John Teibert. 
 
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS

George Fitzpatrick, serving as Sergeant-at-Arms, commented on the success of the gala and thanked those who had attended.

Sheila - who couldn't attend but was happy the gala was successful;

Sheree - who enjoyed the gala;

Peter - who met a young man in the elevator at the Four Seasons who recognized the Rotary pin and said he was probably going to join the organization;

Ed - who wants a refund for the Tiger Cats losing the semi-finals;

Paul  - who congratulated Stephen Ames for winning a PGA tournament; 

Greg - who liked the way the raffle necklace was displayed at the gala; 

Laetitia - who also enjoyed the gala;

Paul M -  who thanked Cathy for the gala and his wife Janet for being so wonderful on Saturday evening.

Norris Brown reported 17 members and eight make ups for 80 per cent attendance.
 
PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS

President Paul thanked the committee for the success of Take It To Heart gala and thanksed all club members and friends who attended the gala. 

President Paul also announced that on Monday, we will have our Paul Harris Awards function, which Roseanne will speak on at more length. 
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS

Paul Harris Fellow Awards Luncheon, November 23rd - Roseanne advised that on Monday District Governor Pravin Suchak and Art Wing will be attendance for the Paul Harris Fellow award presentations. Roseanne encouraged membes to bring spouses and guests, but to confirm who will be additional in attendance so that we have enough seating and food. There are six recipients - four external and two internal. All former PHF recipients, please wear your pins!
 
Club Christmas Party, December 21st - Roseanne asked for volunteers to help organize the club Christmas Party. Cathy Henry and Sheree Taillon volunteered.

Around the World - Laetitia read an email from Gert Petersen, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Elsinore, Denmark announcing that Henri k Mohr had presented our club banner through Donna Lipthorper to their club President. See related story.

Take it to Heart Gala Wrap Up - Cathy thanked everyone  who had supported the gala either by attendance, buying raffle tickets of pledging financial support. It was a great night- enjoyed by 311 guests- the final amount  raised will be determined  when all bills are in.
 
BIRTHDAYS

John Klassen (November 14th) and Don Beard (November 16th). Neither gentleman were in attendance so their birthdays will be celebrated at another meeting.
 
50/50 DRAW

Cathy Henry had the winning ticket, but drew the five of clubs.
 
EARLY LEAVERS

George Fitzpatrick and Elizabeth Zimmerman expressed their regrets to the guest speaker and President and took early leave.
 
GUEST SPEAKER, ELIZABETH BRATTON, YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT

Peter Snodgrass introduced our returning Youth Exchange Student, Miss Elizabeth Bratton and her parents.

Elizabeth then gave us a complete description of her year abroad. It was exciting and a trip that she will never forget - from being on the debating team in Istanbul, to the difficulties at the beginning to make friends with language and cultural differences, to traveling to Triere, to shopping in Amsterdam, to Disney in Paris, the Hague, etc.

Elizabeth made lasting friendships and encouraged our club to continue the program to foster great global relationships. 
 
Jason Pollock, who is a graduate of the same school attended by Elizabeth, thanked Elizabeth for representing our club so well and providing such an excellent report.

ADJOURNMENT

As there was no further business for the good of Rotary, President Paul wished everyone a good week in Rotary and adjourned the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
